Bhumihars constitute 2.86 per cent of the population in Bihar, Brahmins 3.66 per cent, Rajputs 3.45 per cent.
The survey was ordered last year after the Modi government made it clear that it would not be able to undertake a headcount of castes other than SCs and Scheduled Tribes STs as part of the census.
The first phase of the survey was to mark houses and note the name of family members and their heads. The second phase included filling up proforma on the 17-point socio-economic indicators, including caste.
