Union Cabinet approves amendment in Sixth Schedule to strengthen 10 North East autonomous councils

An official statement said that the "most important part" of the amendments is that they will "significantly improve the financial resources and powers" of the autonomous districts councils in Assam, Meghalaya, Mizoram and Tripura.
